What to do before your appointment
Toothache - rinse with warm salt water and take a suitable over-the-counter painkiller
Knocked-out tooth - handle it by the crown (not the root), rinse gently if dirty, and try to keep it moist, in milk or held in place in the socket, until we see you
Swelling - apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek
Loose filling or crown - avoid chewing on that side and keep the area clean
