Dr Ian Blewitt qualified from Peninsula Dental School in 2012, following an initial degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Nottingham. He began his career in general dental practice in Gloucestershire before gaining experience in Maxillofacial Surgery at Great Western Hospital. During this time, he completed the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) examination at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.
Ian was then appointed as an Academic Clinical Fellow with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) in Restorative Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery at Bristol Dental Hospital. It was during this time that he developed a passion for Endodontics, leading him to secure a place on the Master of Clinical Dentistry (MClinDent) specialist training programme at Guy’s Hospital, London. Upon completion, he became a registered Specialist in Endodontics with the General Dental Council.
In 2018, Ian was appointed as a Consultant in Endodontics at the Eastman Dental Hospital, where he is also a Clinical Lecturer in Endodontology, training postgraduate dentists. He is an active member of the British Endodontic Society.
Ian specialises in the treatment of complex root canal cases and re-root canal treatments. Known for his meticulous approach and compassionate care, he is dedicated to dispelling the myths surrounding root canals by providing pain-free treatment.
Outside of dentistry, Ian is a keen runner and cyclist who also enjoys country walks, pub lunches, and reading.
